(Val d’Oise, France)
During this residency, I produced a series of objects and installations (6 in all), staging natural and aesthetic phenomena in a space. I tried to crystallize various anecdotes or observations about the Abbaye de Maubuisson in objects in the form of rocks. I like to think that these are objects that have a certain functionality despite their origins in the history of the abbey, but which could exist in fundamentally different contexts. As for their exterior, I chose a non-color: black.
For me, design is a way of looking at and questioning what surrounds us; it’s contemplation. That’s what I’ve tried to convey during those three months.
